The sealing surface of the short-joint flange at the bottom of our company's coking coke tower has serious corrosion. After on-site inspection, it should be caused by water on the sealing surface of the flange after decoking, which vaporized rapidly and caused cavitation during the pressure test with steam. One flange here is made of Cr5Mo and the other is 15CrMo. Could you please tell me what the hardness of the flange here should be?
The construction was incorrect and the gasket was improperly selected. There will be no problems when construction is carried out according to specifications. Has nothing to do with hardness.
