This post was last edited by happybell on 2009-10-16 at 14:13. I used to work in pipeline engineering/services; now an American company wants me to join them to help promote the roof repair technology for floating roof tanks in China. According to him, the prospects for this technology are very good; he has carried out repair projects on the roofs of double-floating roof tanks with a diameter of 280 inches (85 meters) in Southeast Asia, and the sales revenue from each such project exceeded 1.3 million dollars. I would like to ask the experts in this field: what is the current level of such restoration techniques in China? Is it promising to develop this foreign technology domestically? Thank you!
There are no professional manufacturers in the country for repairing tanks; But there are standards: Oil Tank Repair Specification SY-T5921-2000
Thank you for your reply. Where can I download this repair procedure you mentioned?
In my opinion, this field has quite good prospects. From what I’ve observed, many external floating roof tanks suffer from significant deformation and thus require repair. However, there aren’t many extremely large storage tanks in China, so the costs must remain low
This technology maximally repairs leaks caused by corrosion in the floating roof, allowing the service life of the floating roof tank to be extended by another 10-15 years
