Ignoring the safety and health of all the people living in the economic development zone, the relevant authorities failed to take any action to address the consequences of this situation; they simply allowed things to go unchecked. The environmental protection agency was also on the side of the chemical plant, and no one paid any attention to the complaints made by phone. Over 70 employees have to work in such a terrible environment every day – it’s a complete disregard for human life. According to inspections of air quality conducted by authorized environmental monitoring agencies, the ammonia level in the offices was 21 times above the permissible limit, while the ammonia levels in the workshops and outdoors exceeded the measurement range of the instruments, estimated to be over 50 times higher. In the end, all the employees could no longer bear working in an environment filled with highly toxic gases, so they voluntarily went to the office in the development zone to request a discussion with ***** regarding how to resolve this issue. Yet, as employees are after all a vulnerable group, ****’s representative claimed that they were key enterprises at the provincial level, enterprises designated with ** status...; in the end, they simply ignored us. During this process, there were also incidents of security personnel beating people, which is absolutely unacceptable.
