CPE is the Design Institute of CNPC, which is mainly responsible for tasks such as international engineering design supervision; its work primarily takes place abroad, so good English skills are necessary. Automation is good in design institutes, but it’s quite demanding there.

What job isn’t hard? ! All of CNPC’s offshore oil field surface transportation projects are carried out by CPE. This is not because of its high level of expertise, but rather because other domestic design firms specializing in oil field surface engineering have no experience working on overseas projects. In recent years, **from a strategic perspective aimed at diversifying oil sources, CNPC has been actively seeking oil field projects abroad; as a result, CPE also has many projects to handle, and it offers good compensation. It is the policies that determine the economic situation. As for going abroad, it is said that the treatment there is good, but the places one goes to are all in the Third World – areas plagued by war, social unrest, and ethnic conflicts. In Iraq, the treatment is quite good; one receives a daily allowance of over 140 dollars. It’s just unclear whether one will even have the chance to earn that money, let alone spend it.
