The theoretical gas volume for the operation of the 800 copper tower is around 30,000; the actual gas production volume should be in the range of 15,000–18,000. If more gas is required, additional measures must be taken.
There is another important parameter for the copper tower: its designed production capacity. The designed production capacity of Tower 800 is 5 tons of ammonia per hour. The volume of raw gas required to produce 1 ton of ammonia is 3,400 standard cubic meters; therefore, the gas flow rate for Tower 800 is 17,000 standard cubic meters.
I have modified two 800-copper towers for Shandong Luxi No.2 Chemical Plant, and they have been in operation for five or six years now. Its maximum flux is: 30,000 Nm3/h. However, the structure inside the tower is very particular.
The amount of gas that can pass through a 800 tower depends primarily on the space velocity; the space velocity specified in the original design manual is 0.08 meters per second, while our current space velocity for this tower is 0.113 meters per second; As long as your design conditions meet the requirements for high speed, it is also feasible; this depends on factors such as the design, construction, selection of internal components and process conditions, as well as the establishment and implementation of operational standards for workers, performance evaluations, and other aspects of the production process.
