Our company produces sulfonated products, and during the production process, fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene ethers 3 can often become contaminated by excessive sulfonation. The main impurities are carbonized organic substances, and we want to purify them by using flocculants to remove these impurities; we’re not sure if this will work. I want to try using ferric chloride; I don’t know how to use it
It is estimated that using ferric chloride as a coagulant does not yield good results, while using polyferric salts as a coagulant gives better outcomes. Usage: 1. Liquid products can be added directly or after dilution; solid products should be dissolved in water before addition. The typical dilution ratio is: 2%–20% for solid products, and 5%–50% for liquid products (on a weight percentage basis). 2. The dosage of the chemical agent is generally as follows: 3–40 grams per ton for liquid products, and 1–15 grams per ton for solid products. The specific dosage should be determined by the user based on mixing tests and production trials.
For insoluble impurities, filtration is recommended; for flocculation, polyaluminum or polyferric compounds can be used, while ferric trichloride will cause the medium to change color
If you want to try using ferric chloride, you can first conduct experiments in test tubes, following the proportions given on the second floor; prepare several different mixtures to find the best solution
