Analyzing the water content in butadiene requires some special methods. If the water content is high, chromatography can be used. For lower water contents, a laser infrared gas analyzer can be considered. The Carothers method or the phosphorus pentoxide absorption electrolysis method is not recommended, as the polymerization and addition properties of butadiene cause severe interference with these two analytical methods.
