What is hydrogenation reactor bed channel flow? What happens when channeling occurs? How to deal with it?
When the reactants flow through the reactor, due to the uneven flow, the fluid opens a channel with low resistance (this is the so-called channel) and quickly passes through the bed. This phenomenon is called channel flow. The reasons are related to the catalyst loading quality, the installation quality of the inlet distributor, the device being put back into use after an emergency shutdown, and the large fluctuations in the amount of circulating hydrogen.
Channel flow means that the reaction feed cannot be evenly distributed on the catalyst bed. The phenomenon is that the radial temperature difference of the catalyst bed is large.
Channel flow is mainly related to the catalyst loading quality, large fluctuations in operating pressure, and the properties of the raw oil.
