What is the control of hydrogen sulfide in acetylene gas before VCM conversion?
Cannot contain sulfides and should be zero
Both sulfur and phosphorus must be zero, otherwise the catalyst will be poisoned.
Acetylene gas is theoretically required to contain no SP, but in practice it is impossible. Find a testing standard that suits your company, control SP within a tolerable range, and make adjustments based on catalyst consumption.
The requirement is that it does not contain sulfur and phosphorus impurities, otherwise it will cause mercury chloride catalyst poisoning. But it does not contain it just because it cannot be detected using conventional testing methods. In fact, it does exist. During the production process, the silver nitrate test paper does not change color as a basis for judgment. Generally, it cannot be detected. However, there are still occasional slight discolorations during production, indicating that sulfur- and phosphorus-containing impurities should be in the order of PPm.
