Then, lignite, which constitutes a large proportion of our country’s coal reserves (about 42% of the total), can be used for low-temperature carbonization to produce semi-coke, tar, and gas. Using semi-coke for combustion in power generation is a method to utilize coal economically, efficiently, and rationally. Since low-temperature carbonization of lignite as a raw material can concentrate about 3/4 of the calorific value of the raw coal in the semi-coke, and the weight of the semi-coke is less than half that of the raw coal, moreover the semi-coke contains fewer pollutants than the raw coal, burning semi-coke is beneficial for environmental protection and also brings social benefits.

Nourishing coking through chemical means is one approach； However, there are high investment costs, large fluctuations in market product prices, significant risks, and difficulties in obtaining approvals.

Through integration, restructuring, and expansion, it gradually moves toward a complete industrial chain covering raw coal, coking, and chemicals, in order to increase the degree of product refinement and raise its value； The process of moving gradually toward a circular economy and clean production aims to improve resource utilization, strengthen environmental protection, and address the issue of poor risk resistance associated with single coking products.

The coking industry should still focus on improving its processes. The biggest challenge facing this industry at present is environmental protection, as coking causes severe pollution to the environment.
