The standards for support-type bearings do not specify that the installation height of Type A bearings can be changed; only Type B bearings allow for changes in their installation height. What should I do if I have a vertical container, the discharge opening at its bottom is too long, resulting in insufficient height when connecting it to the pipeline, and the supports are of type A?
There is a solution: make the foundation piers of the storage tank taller and leave enough space!
But I’ve seen some people increase the height of the supports, although the standards do not clearly state whether this is allowed or not. Very confused? Moreover, according to the standard installation height, the bottom discharge nozzle is generally very short.....
Increasing the support height is not impossible either, but the designer just needs to ensure that the stress checks are satisfactory.
It is possible to increase the height of the supports, but it is necessary to ensure that the strength of the equipment meets the required standards. Things like thickened pads or side plates can be used; they are just not standard supports.
