Yankuang Guotai was recognized as a major classic project for the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China

It was learned at the press conference on the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, held recently in the Great Hall of the People, that the first phase of the Guotai Chemical Project operated by Yankuang Group in our province made it through all the evaluation stages and was recognized as a classic project alongside the buildings in Tiananmen Square, the Three Gorges Dam, and the **Stadium (Bird’s Nest). This is the only project selected in the coal chemical industry of Shandong and even across China. It is understood that this selection of outstanding projects to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the country was organized by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, in collaboration with the China Construction Industry Association, as well as industry associations from the fields of water resources, electricity, transportation, chemicals, and the People’s Liberation Army. Hundreds of projects from 30 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions across the country participated in this selection process. Finally, the first phase of Guotai Chemical in Yankuang Group stood out and became the only project from China’s coal chemical industry to be selected. It is understood that the Guotai Chemical Plant, located in Tengzhou, Zaozhuang, has a total investment of 5 billion yuan. It produces 600,000 tons of acetic acid, 300,000 tons of methanol, and 100,000 tons of ethyl acetate per year, while also generating 80 MW of electricity; it is the largest acetic acid production facility in China.

The Ningdong Chemical Industry Base is much larger than this: it has a production capacity of 1 million tons of methanol, 830,000 tons of dimethyl ether, 2 million tons of olefins, and 330,000 tons of gasoline. In addition, projects for coal-to-oil and coal-to-natural gas production will be launched in the future.

It was said to be the largest acetic acid production enterprise in the country； This is a bit of an exaggeration, but Yankuang Guotai has indeed seen excellent development in recent years, and its management style is quite distinctive; it would certainly not be an overstatement to call it a gem in the field of coal chemical industry.
In terms of scale, Yankuang Guotai is certainly not the largest, but it holds a certain benchmark significance.
Why? There are so many projects that are larger and more advanced than his. Why choose Yankuang?
Yankuang Guotai brought together two major 863 projects: multi-nozzle gasification and the cogeneration technology centered on IGCC, winning two **Second Prizes for Scientific and Technological Progress. So the focus is on technological breakthroughs, not production scale!

Yankuang Guotai is indeed not considered a player in the methanol sector. However, the four-nozzle water-coal slurry gasifier had an early track record of use; it was put into operation in the same year and quickly achieved significant success. Management within the factory area is very strict and orderly. Being recognized as a major classic project indeed gives it significant advantages. Congratulations here!
