Recently, we upgraded our oxygen pipeline by replacing the previous manual oxygen valves with automatic ones. Well, after degreasing the valve and installing it, I used purging to remove any oil, but actually oil came out? The oxygen valve comes out of the factory with oil prevention measures in place; so where does this oil come from? It has been confirmed that there is no oil in the purge lines. As a last resort, the valve had to be disassembled, degreased again, and then reassembled. What do everyone think – how can we avoid this in the future?
Start from the source: check whether the purge gas contains oil, and whether oil has entered during installation.
(1) It’s unlikely that degreasing was not performed before leaving the factory; no manufacturer would dare to take such a risk; (2) Some users attempt to carry out degreasing themselves in order to save money, but the results are not satisfactory ; (3) During installation, grease was used for the equipment attached to the valve ; (4) The pipeline was not cleaned properly ;
I have a question: after the modification, where do you see the oil being blown out during purging – from the pipes? Oxygen pipelines are also prohibited; the most likely reasons are either the wrong type of fluid being used or oil present in the nitrogen purge gas
Is there oil contained in the purging medium?
It is suspected that oil may have entered the purging medium, or that the workers were careless during pipeline installation. The oil and grease removal on site was not done properly. When removing oil from the pipelines, the construction team was not careful enough, which resulted in failure to pass the inspection
Valve manufacturers are not trustworthy; moreover, their valves can generally be used with oxygen as well as with other media. Therefore, the safest approach is to disassemble and degrease it before installation.
The nitrogen compressor has a fault; there is a problem with the oil scrapper ring.
