Are check valves divided into liquid check valves and gas check valves? Or are check valves universal?
Check valves are not divided into liquid check valves and gas check valves as you mentioned. A check valve is a valve whose valve disc opens and closes automatically due to the flow of the medium itself, and it is used to prevent the backflow of the medium. Depending on their structure, check valves are divided into lift-type check valves, swing-type check valves, butterfly check valves, and pipe-type check valves. During installation, different check valves can be selected depending on the requirements of the pipes and the manufacturing process. For example, swing check valves can be used with both liquid and gas media.
Any of them can be used; it’s just that the effects will vary. From a design perspective, the design values for the internal dimensional specifications of check valves designed specifically for gases differ from those of check valves designed for liquids.
