The anti-surge valve of the pyrolysis gas compressor opens frequently; after inspection, the temperature, pressure, and liquid level in the compressor’s inter-stage system are all normal. There were no leaks either. The load of the pyrolyzer remains unchanged, and the ambient temperature is also normal. What is the reason?
Is the inlet flow at section 4 below the minimum flow setting? Has the three-machine control system in your place been changed to 3C control?
It is 3C control. The inbound traffic should be normal. The opening degree of the anti-surge valve seems to be a function of the temperature, flow rate, and pressure at the four outlets. We use orifice flowmeters for our flow measurement
Isn’t the outlet pressure at stage 4 a bit high? There are several conditions under which the anti-surge return valve of the 3C control system opens; one of them is a high outlet pressure, which should be slightly lower than the set pressure of the fourth-stage outlet pressure control valve. In short, it means that the load on the device has reached its maximum limit.
I suggest: 1. Monitor the flow rate and check whether the pressures at the inlet and outlet are stable; 2. Inspect the pressure tapping pipes to see if there is any liquid accumulation inside them. It’s cold these days, and in northern regions, this can easily lead to liquid accumulation in the pressure tapping pipes. If production is running smoothly, liquid accumulation in these pipes is very likely to occur! Moreover, the signal fluctuations that occur when there is liquid accumulation in the pressure tapping pipes (but they’re not completely blocked) are very similar to the signs of surging
Cause analysis: Instrument malfunction, high outlet pressure, insufficient inlet flow, impure medium composition. Preventive measures: Increase anti-surge margin or switch to manual operation
The issue has been resolved; it was indeed fluid accumulation in the pressure transducer tubing that caused the system to give an incorrect reading. After the repair, the system is working properly. The friend on the 5th floor is really amazing, they said.
