According to theoretical analysis, if the inlet and outlet are closed and there is no material inside, and the mechanical seal has cooling water, then there is no issue. But if there is material inside, that’s not necessarily the case!

If there is a fluid inside the centrifugal pump, starting the pump with the inlet and outlet closed will cause the fluid to heat up rapidly due to eddies, to vaporize, and to experience cavitation.
What was said on the fourth floor is absolutely correct; I agree.
The pump starts when the inlet valve is closed, which is equivalent to the pump running idle; no flow is generated, and the outlet pressure fluctuates severely. Over time, this can lead to damage to the mechanical seal, or even cause the pump body to overheat.
According to the regulations, the outlet valve must be closed when starting a centrifugal pump in order to reduce the motor’s starting current. However, the inlet valve must remain open; if it is also closed, there will be no major problems in the short term. Over time, this can cause the pump body to overheat, or in severe cases, it can damage the bearings.
Prolonged idling causes the pump body to overheat, leading to damaged bearings and seals
Vortices within the pump chamber cause the pump body to generate heat and vibration, leading to damage to the mechanical seal and other pump components
Use a dry gas seal to replace the original mechanical seal. It can solve some problems
If there is no medium. At worst, the seal of the pump can be damaged; if the medium is a light component, this could lead to accidents that result in the destruction of the pump and even loss of life.
