Do the high and low pressure oil pumps start when the rod mill is turned? Is it like the normal startup of a rod mill, where the high-pressure oil pump is started first, and then the low-pressure oil pump?
When rotating the rod mill, the startup sequence for the low-pressure and high-pressure oil pumps should be to start the low-pressure oil pump first, followed by the high-pressure oil pump. Because the inlet of the high-pressure oil pump is connected to the outlet of the low-pressure oil pump.
The sequence for starting the low-pressure and high-pressure oil pumps during crankshaft rotation is the same as that when the mill is operated normally: the low-pressure oil pump is started first, and only when the oil pressure reaches the specified level will the high-pressure oil pump be activated; otherwise, it cannot be started due to program control.
When rotating the rod mill, it is necessary to start the low-pressure oil pump and the high-pressure oil pump in sequence before enabling the slow rotation system. The purpose of starting the low-pressure oil pump is to supply oil to the inlet of the high-pressure oil pump as well as to provide lubrication to the front and rear bearing shells. The purpose of starting the high-pressure oil pump is to use the high-pressure oil to lift the front and rear bearing shells of the rod mill, thereby creating an oil film that reduces starting friction and protects the bearing shells.

Take a look at the process with the pump and it will be clear; the fluid for the high-pressure oil pump comes from the low-pressure oil pump. Of course, start the low-pressure pump first, then the high-pressure pump. If you are turning the drum, you definitely have to start the pump. There’s also a interlock in place; unless you can turn it while installing the mill, in which case a crane would be used.

After the high-pressure oil pump stops, does the low-pressure oil pump still use the high-pressure oil pump to deliver oil to the bearings of the rod mill? Is there still a bypass, through which the low-pressure oil pump sends oil to the rod mill? Is this process automated, or does it require manual switching?
