Should the tensile strength value stated in the tensile test report be filled in exactly as it is, or should it be rounded (and if so, how)? From what I understand, according to requirement 10.3 in ASME SA-20, the tensile test reports for the base material need to have their values rounded. I’m not sure whether, in the context of ASME’s welding procedure qualification, the tensile strength values in the reports also need to be rounded (I haven’t found any standard or regulatory references for this). Additionally, it is said that domestic reports also require rounding to the nearest value, but I haven’t found any relevant evidence for this either. I have never encountered a situation like this! If the mechanical property values have to be rounded in order to barely meet the minimum requirements specified... then it’s not much different from being Unqualified The values I’ve encountered are usually much higher; however, in many cases there are alterations made to those values: L sweat

The tensile strength requires a 5-digit binary representation; the values can only be 0 or 5, according to the rounding rules
I agree with this friend’s view; there is indeed a degree of roundness to it. You didn’t ask the people in the mechanics laboratory when you were in Hunan, did you? I know there are rounded ones.
ASME SA-370 references ASTM E29, which provides guidelines for using the significant figures in test values in order to determine test values that meet the technical specifications. The rounding of the test result values follows ASTM E29.
