80 Drill string top shaft break

Our company has an 80-type swing arm drilling machine manufactured by ChTZ Friendship Factory; it has been in use for 15 years. Yesterday, the shaft at the top of the column inside the column shaft suddenly broke. We believe this was caused by fatigue, as there were old damage marks at the fracture site. Is our analysis correct? What other factors could have led to this breakage?
It’s been 15 years now; it’s probably normal wear and tear. The analysis is good. (It also depends on the frequency of use)
The phenomenon in which a part breaks after operating under alternating loads for an extended period of time is known as fatigue fracture. Axes that are used for extended periods experience stress concentration due to various factors, which in turn leads to fatigue cracks.
Our 80-drill will be fixed soon; I’m exhausted these past few days, hehe
