The floating of activated sludge can be attributed to various reasons, such as a low sludge load, high aeration levels, and the natural decomposition of the sludge, which results in the formation of many small flocs that float to the surface； Another example is mass death and floating of sludge following poisoning; such sludge is often black in color ； There is also a high sludge load; sludge that has absorbed many microorganisms tends to float to the surface. The specific reasons for this need to be adjusted based on the actual conditions of the wastewater treatment plant.
First, it is necessary to determine the cause of sludge floating: if it is caused by insufficient DO leading to anaerobic floating of the sludge, then it is required to increase aeration or reduce the water inflow rate in order to maintain the DO at around 2. 2. If sludge floating is caused by excessive aeration, it is necessary to reduce the aeration volume ； 3. If sludge poisoning and floating occur due to changes in the quality of the incoming water, it is necessary to pre-treat the incoming water before re-cultivating and acclimating the sludge. 4. If sludge floating is caused by an excessive inflow load, it is necessary to adjust the water inflow volume, reduce the load, and then allow the sludge to settle again. 5. If sludge floating is caused by an imbalance in the nutrients in the influent water, it is necessary to re-adjust the nutrients in the influent water. 6. If the sludge floats on the surface due to filamental fungi, it is necessary to sterilize it before culturing the sludge again. 7. If it is caused by a long period without sludge discharge, then sludge discharge is required. ........... Secondly, targeted adjustments are made based on the reasons for the increase, including aspects such as technology and operation.
