Power plants are forced to shut down their electrostatic precipitators, and sometimes even the entire unit, due to insufficient output from the ash transfer system and high levels of ash in the ash hoppers. What measures can be taken to prevent and resolve such situations?
During normal operation, the ash conveying system has insufficient output; when shutting down the furnace, an appropriate coal type can be used to maintain operation; If it is possible to shut down the furnace and then modify the ash transfer system, using the emergency ash discharge outlet should not be encouraged.
This problem can be solved in the following way: the ash discharge capacity of each power plant equipped with electrostatic dust removal systems varies. In the first and second electric fields, a large amount of ash is generated; ash discharge is carried out by means of a level sensor in the ash hopper, which sends signals to an electric gate valve, thereby enabling the transfer of the ash. However, it is possible to adjust the high-level signal sent by the level sensor slightly, thereby extending the time taken for ash transfer and allowing multiple transfers to address the issue of inability to transfer the ash promptly
This should be a matter considered during the design phase; if such a problem arises during actual operation, either a different type of coal needs to be used, or the output capacity of the ash transfer system needs to be modified in the design
