I wonder if you often encounter the problem of float falling from float level gauges such as atmospheric towers and flash evaporation towers.
I've encountered it but not often. May be related to the installation quality.
In the nearly 20 years since the atmospheric and vacuum equipment of the old factory was put into operation, this situation has only occurred once for the floating ball of the atmospheric tower. The overhaul must be inspected once a year. If there are no problems, the packing must be replaced to ensure long-term safe operation. If possible, the thickness of the float must also be measured.
Last year, the low float of our atmospheric flash tower fell, which resulted in a crude oil leak and a fire. It was winter and it took a day to deal with it.
There have been no problems with the floats in the atmospheric tower and flash evaporation tower. Recently, the third-line float fell off, which is very troublesome.

When there is a problem with the float level gauge, it is usually because the float has fallen off and can only be replaced when the device is inspected. There is no way to deal with it while the device is running.

We have encountered this before, the bottom reducing float ball fell off, we had to stop the work urgently and replace it with a new one. The new float rod is put on the stainless steel pipe, and both ends are welded to the float rod.
Floats have fallen off in both normal pressure towers and vacuum towers, but generally there is a differential pressure measurement at the bottom of the tower, which has little impact on the operation.
