In the interpretation of the "Safety Technical Supervision Regulations for Fixed Pressure Vessels" (TSG R0004-2009), regarding the main pressure components in Article 1.6.1 of the new regulations, the equipment flange is explained: "Equipment flange refers to the connecting flange between the pressure-bearing cylinder and the head (pipe box), or the cylinder and the cylinder, or a flange that is not directly connected to the external pipeline flange (such as: Manhole cover, manhole flange, etc.)". I would like to ask if this "flange not directly connected to the external pipe flange" is a flange with a DN less than 250, is it still considered a major pressure component? For example, some DN50 spare instrument ports on the equipment are sealed with flange covers.
I think the main pressure-bearing components should not be counted, including pipes and flanges with a DN less than 250, and pressure-bearing bolts less than M36.
The spare instrument port is sealed with a flange cover. In the future, the instrument will still be installed and connected to the external pipe flange or instrument flange. If we insist on words, it is a bit far-fetched to say it is an equipment flange.
In fact, manholes and hand holes are also treated as connecting flanges. If DN ≥ 250mm, they are regarded as main pressure-bearing parts.
The flange used to seal the instrument port is definitely not the main pressure component. Since the instrument port is reserved, the instrument will definitely be installed when the equipment is in use.
I agree with the explanation on the third floor. The instrument port is only sealed before leaving the factory. When the equipment is installed and used on site, the instrument will definitely be installed. According to the author's understanding, many spare ports will be used as equipment flanges. This is definitely not the original intention of the regulations.
I agree with what was said above. The new regulations are just more basic than the 1999 version. There are not so many technical things, but the basic original intention has not changed.
