What should a newcomer focus on learning when they first join a project?

This year, Xiao Shuo graduated with a degree in chemical engineering; he now works at a factory. He spent the first four months working in the workshop, and was transferred to the technical department last week. The factory is about to launch a new project, and my role is similar to that of an assistant to a project manager. I’m currently working on the project feasibility study report, and it seems that the project will develop quite rapidly. My goal is to gain a thorough understanding of the entire project process as well as all aspects related to its implementation, with a focus on the manufacturing processes. However, there are three issues at present: 1. Which aspects of the project are crucial and require special attention, and which ones should be focused on first? 2. Where should I start? 3. I’m worried that my manager will only assign me minor tasks, like typing or drawing diagrams; how can I get access to more important work? I hope the seniors will kindly share their insights!
