Does anyone know what the standards are for the quality grades of methanol products?
The quality standards for industrial methanol in China, as specified in GB338-2004, define the following key parameters for premium-grade methanol: Appearance – colorless and transparent liquid, with a color intensity of ≤5 (Pt-Co). Density – 0.779–0.792 g/cm3. Boiling range – 64–65.5°C. Potassium permanganate test – ≥50 minutes. Water solution test – clear. Acidity (expressed as HCOOH) – ≤0.0015%. Alkalinity (expressed as NH3) – ≤0.002%. Moisture content – ≤0.10%
Well, there are several types: crude methanol and refined methanol, as well as methane derived from natural gas and methane produced from coal. Could the poster please specify what quality grade of methanol is required?
