Questions about chemical plant pipelines?

The carbon dioxide venting pipeline in our factory is over 300 meters long, with bends every few dozen meters. Why not use a straight pipeline for venting? Won’t this save more material? I look forward to fellow sailors explaining my doubts!
It is mainly to eliminate the stress caused by thermal expansion. What is the CO2 vent temperature at your facility?
