Some time ago, the fans in our workshop started making abnormal noises; the equipment technicians said there was a problem with the oil seal. I would like to ask everyone what the function of the oil seal is?
The bearing housing uses splash lubrication, and the oil baffle serves to prevent lubricating oil from leaking out of the bearing housing. If it is not properly designed and installed, the oil seal will wear out. After wear, it can be remanufactured and replaced with the original material.
Is it an oil seal ring or an oil slinger ring? If it is inside the bearing housing, then it should be the slinger that causes abnormal noises.
If it is the oil baffle ring that provides sealing, then it is the slinger ring that provides lubrication. What kind of lubrication is used for the fan? If it’s grease, then it’s probably the oil seal he’s referring to.
If the fan uses grease and the bearing housing has a large volume, the oil baffle can serve as a seal to reduce the amount of grease consumed.
I think it’s probably due to grease; it might be preventing the oil seal from moving or causing it to touch the axle housing
Is it the bearing housing (bridge) of the centrifugal fan? If so, it might be a problem with the oil seal. The oil seal ring and shaft are in an interference fit; they are installed on the inside of the bearing to prevent the loss of lubricant. If the mating surfaces wear out, abnormal noises will occur (this has happened once in our company).
The oil seal is a device on the fan shaft used to prevent oil leakage along the shaft; abnormal noises may be caused by the oil seal becoming loose and hitting the bearing housing.
The oil baffle ring inside the bearing housing is located within the bearing; it is axially fixed by the shaft shoulder. The inner ring of the bearing presses against the protruding part of the inner ring of the oil baffle ring, while the outer ring of the oil baffle ring has no contact with the bearing. The oil baffle ring is installed inside the bearing housing to prevent excessive leakage of lubricant into the cavity.
