Insulation material area statistics

When counting insulation materials, should the outer diameter of the pipe or the outer diameter of the insulation layer be used for area calculation?
It is best to use the average diameter of the insulation layer: (outer diameter of the pipe + outer diameter of the insulation layer) / 2.
An estimated median diameter for a 2L insulation layer seems reasonable.

In the statistics on the insulation materials for pumps, does anyone here know how to share some tips?
For insulation, it’s better to calculate based on volume; for area, we calculate it as half of the insulation layer’s area
