In one design, there was a need to design a discharge pipeline for methanol. For safety reasons, what is the safe flow rate for methanol during discharge? Are there any relevant regulations?

The flow rate can be referenced to that of gasoline, generally less than 3 m/s.

The allowable flow rate is calculated using the following formula: V.D
The square of the material flow rate (m/s) multiplied by the pipe diameter (m) is less than or equal to 0.64; i.e., v²D ≤ 0.64
