Only 17% ammonia solution is used in the production process, and if the operating temperature is not high (there is no risk of ammonia gas escaping), no explosion-proof measures are required for that production area. Similarly, combustible gas detectors are not necessary in the storage area for 17% ammonia solution.
According to the Code for Design of Electrical Installations in Explosive and Flammable Environments GB50058-92, Article 2.2.1, explosive gas environments shall be zoned in accordance with the frequency and duration of the presence of explosive gas mixtures, as follows: 1. Zone 0: An environment where explosive gas mixtures are present continuously or for an extended period of time; II. Zone L: Environments where explosive gas mixtures may occur during normal operation ; III. Zone 2: An environment in which an explosive gas mixture cannot occur under normal operation, or in which such a mixture exists only for a short period of time if it does occur. Note: Normal operation refers to the normal start-up, operation, and shutdown processes, as well as the loading and unloading of flammable materials. It also involves the opening and closing of containers, with safety valves, discharge valves, and all plant equipment operating within their designed parameters. Article 2.2.2 A zone may be classified as a non-explosive hazard area if it meets the following conditions: 1. A zone without any source of release and in which flammable materials cannot possibly enter ; II. The maximum possible concentration of flammable substances shall not exceed 10% of the lower explosive limit ; III. Near equipment that uses an open flame during the production process, or near equipment whose surface temperature of hot components exceeds the ignition temperature of flammable materials in the area ; IV. In areas outside the production facility zone, where overhead pipelines for transporting flammable materials are installed in an open or exposed manner; the location of their valves shall be determined according to specific circumstances. Since ammonia water is a weak base, 17% ammonia water remains relatively stable; unless under heating or vacuum conditions, ammonia gas generally does not escape from the ammonia water into the environment (except in ammonia water tanks). Therefore, this area (where ammonia water is at room temperature) does not need to be designated as an explosion-proof zone. The above is just one perspective; everyone is welcome to discuss it.
