What is the difference between vacuum wax oil and coker wax oil?

Actually, it’s mainly due to different group compositions. In simple terms, coker wax oil is itself a product of the thermal cracking of residue, and it has very poor cracking properties; it contains a high level of aromatics as well as certain amounts of olefins. In the overall refinery process, it is usually treated as residue. This means that there are strict requirements regarding the proportion of coker wax oil that can be used in hydrocracking and catalytic cracking – it is preferable for it to undergo hydrogen treatment first before being fed into FCC or catalytic cracking units. Straight-run wax oil is obtained through distillation or physical fractionation; it contains a high proportion of alkanes and cycloalkanes, relatively few aromatics, and has good cracking properties, allowing it to be used directly in catalytic and hydrocracking processes. However, when the sulfur content of crude oil is high, hydrodesulfurization must be carried out first.
