Basic knowledge of reducer What is a reducer? The reducer is a power transmission mechanism that uses a gear speed converter to reduce the number of revolutions of the motor to the required number of revolutions and obtain a larger torque. The functions of the reducer 1) Reduce the speed and increase the output torque at the same time. The torque output ratio is based on the motor output multiplied by the reduction ratio, but be careful not to exceed the rated torque of the reducer. 2) The speed also reduces the inertia of the load, and the reduction of inertia is the square of the reduction ratio. You can see that generally motors have an inertia value. Types of reducers: General reducers include helical gear reducers (including parallel-axis helical gear reducers, worm gear reducers, bevel gear reducers, etc.), planetary gear reducers, cycloid pinwheel reducers, worm gear reducers, planetary friction mechanical stepless transmissions, etc. Common types of reducers 1) The main feature of the worm gear reducer is that it has a reverse self-locking function and can have a large reduction ratio. The input shaft and the output shaft are not on the same axis or on the same plane. However, they are generally larger in size, have low transmission efficiency and low precision. 2) The harmonic transmission of the harmonic reducer uses the controllable elastic deformation of flexible components to transmit motion and power. It is small in size and has high precision. However, the disadvantage is that the flexspline has limited life, is not impact resistant, and has poor rigidity compared with metal parts. The input speed cannot be too high. 3) The advantages of planetary reducer are relatively compact structure, small return clearance, high precision, long service life, and the rated output torque can be very large.
