I’m a newcomer to the chemical industry; at first, I wasn’t sure where to start. I’d appreciate hearing everyone’s advice so that I can avoid making mistakes. Thank you!
Learn at work, improve through learning
Draw flowcharts until you can memorize the pipeline processes; at the same time, go to the site to identify equipment, pipelines, and valves, master the individual operation of pumps, learn about the process technology, and be diligent in thinking and asking questions. Remember, mastering skills is for your own benefit. It’s not just about securing a job in the future; the main reason is that the chemical industry is a dangerous one. By learning skilled techniques, you learn how to protect yourself and also avoid harming others.
I’m not sure what specific work the original poster is engaged in, but I personally think it’s necessary to first master the basic theories before applying them in practice; each process has its own characteristics.
Starting with the flowchart, first get familiar with the process before moving on to other things; it’s easy to get involved quickly.
