I am currently working at a coking plant; I think the working environment is poor and not suitable for me. I want to work in equipment design, so I would appreciate some advice from those who work in this field. Is it the same when it comes to design too? ! !
It depends on whether an individual is interested in design work; it can be quite tedious, with endless drawings to create and revisions to make. The design environment in larger design firms is better, while that in smaller firms is quite poor. Working on equipment in a process plant involves equipment maintenance and technical upgrades, each with its own characteristics.
Those who have worked in equipment management at chemical plants have a solid practical foundation for design work, which is a great advantage. Our design department also had an employee from the chemical plant who worked in the equipment department; we exchanged knowledge with each other – we learned from him about things related to the production site, and he learned from us about design principles. The results were quite good.
