Our company is constructing water injection pipelines; the main pipe has dimensions of 140*26, while the branch pipes have dimensions of 68*12. The design pressure is 40 MPa. What should be the thickness required for reinforcement? Some people say that strength equivalence should be achieved through reinforcement; huh, how is it possible to achieve strength equivalence with a wall thickness of 26 units? According to the GB-50316-2000 Code for Design of Industrial Metal Piping, it’s also difficult to calculate this. I hope everyone can **help out**

Yesterday an expert came to check things here and ordered that the reinforcement ring be thickened to 26 MM; I almost cried :funk:
Equal-strength reinforcement means that the thickness of the reinforcement plate is the same as the wall thickness of the main pipe, right?

It seems to be the case that there are regulations in place, and it’s impossible to change anything. Let’s see if it’s possible to modify the way the components are connected; that might be a better solution.
The design provides finished tees, but it’s simply impossible – the spacing between the branch pipes isn’t sufficient

With such high pressures, in my opinion, reinforcement rings should not be used; instead, overall reinforcement should be employed, such as by thickening the wall thickness of the fittings or using fittings that are drawn out in their entirety. Moreover, the wall thickness of the resulting fittings does not need to be as thick as calculated. The SH3408 standard can be used for practical verification, and this should be carried out by experienced manufacturers
