Type testing is the experiment conducted to determine whether a product meets all the requirements of the technical specifications. It is an essential step in new product evaluation. Only by passing type testing can this product be put into formal production; however, for product certification, newly designed products are generally not certified. Type testing conducted for certification purposes is the evaluation of the conformity of one or more representative samples using testing methods. The type test is based on the product standard. The number of samples required for the test is determined by the certification body, and the test samples are randomly selected from the final products manufactured by the factory. The tests are conducted at accredited independent testing laboratories. For certain specific testing items, if the testing laboratory lacks the necessary equipment, it is possible to use the manufacturer’s testing equipment under the supervision of an independent testing laboratory or a certification body.
