Why is the liquid level in chamber one of the vaporizer drum higher than that in chamber two? This question appeared on the exam; I don’t know the answer and am seeking help
It seems that in China, only the drum systems of Shell boilers are shared. If that is the case, then: 1. There are errors in the calculation of the resistance in the two pipelines at the drum outlet; 2. The gas generation rate in the SGC section is too high; 3. The temperature control of the gasification furnace is too low, resulting in a high load; 4. The diameter of the connecting pipelines is too small or the connecting valves are closed; 5. The fundamental reason lies in the control system – the gas generation rate corresponding to Chamber 1 remains almost constant, while that corresponding to Chamber 2 changes with the load
2# Wandering the World: Agree that the 3rd and 5th points are the main reasons. The connection valves are usually kept open, and I don’t think pipeline resistance has much of an impact.
3# NDWEM: In fact, the liquid level in section one of the vaporizer is not always higher than that in section two. During startup or when the heat exchange in the syngas cooler is efficient, the liquid level in section two is generally lower. When there is a certain amount of ash accumulation in the syngas cooler and its heat exchange efficiency declines, the liquid level in section two also becomes lower; this is mainly due to a certain pressure difference.
