I have just started working with the purification of high-purity zinc. Could someone with more experience tell me what other methods exist for purifying 5-6N high-purity zinc besides distillation? Where else can I find information on distillation methods?
It is generally produced by distillation; at present, we use crude zinc to produce 5N pure zinc through distillation, and electrolysis is also used as well. For grades above 5N, several methods need to be combined

The three main methods for producing high-purity zinc at present are electrolysis, vacuum distillation, and zone melting. 1. The electrolytic process has easily controllable process conditions, but it requires a large amount of energy and yields relatively poor purification results; 2. Vacuum distillation provides excellent purification results with low energy consumption, but it is difficult to obtain 7N zinc; 3. Zone melting can be used to produce 7N zinc, but it has the disadvantages of high costs and long processing times.
I am currently working on 7N zinc research using the zone melting method; I’d be happy to exchange ideas
The issues to pay attention to in zone melting include the purity of the shielding gas, the speed of zone melting, temperature, etc.; of course, it is also related to the containers used for loading the material.
