I’ve been working for over two years now, and I’ve always wanted to write some papers. Working in an obscure position like this offers no prospects at all; the higher-ups don’t even know who you are. But after looking around, there really is nothing to write about. I studied storage and transportation engineering, and I work on the construction of long-distance pipelines. The threshold for entering the field of long-distance pipeline construction is quite low; by searching online for papers on this topic, it becomes clear that this subject has already been thoroughly studied by predecessors from seventy or eighty years ago. Look for journals; those related to petroleum fall under chemistry, oil extraction, or geology. Pipeline construction is too mature; there is no room for further improvement. I had been holding back from writing a paper; after half a year I finally managed to complete one, but it was rejected by the chief engineer’s office, and no one dared to approve it. I’ve worked hard for half a year this year, from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m. every night, and I’ve completed a book; it’s due next week. 320,000 words – it seems pretty good. Next year’s advanced level will be almost ready
It also makes one feel that some things must have been written countless times already
Of course one has to write them, to prepare for the next step of obtaining a senior engineer title; writing papers is also required for becoming an engineer
Writing articles for engineering is not as easy as writing articles for research. When I was in graduate school, I could publish a small paper by using some experimental data along with some theoretical elements. I’ve been working for two or three years now, and it really seems like there’s nothing much to write about. I’m about to be evaluated as an engineer. It seems it needs to be added to the schedule as well.

I’ve written many articles, around 8, over my 10 years of work. In fact, it’s better for a thesis to have practical industrial application experience; ideally, there should be aspects that can serve as references. It shouldn’t be too theoretical, after all, this isn’t about conducting research.
