Does anyone know how to analyze trace amounts of iodine in acetic acid? The amount is 10-100ppb.
Ammonium cerium sulfate, nitrous acid, trivalent Fe, potassium thiocyanate, etc. develop colors under certain conditions. The slope of the standard curve measured using spectrophotometry is a negative value. The error introduced during the operation is relatively large, and the requirements for each step are very strict (including placement time). However, the laboratory technicians I trained are all able to master the analysis method proficiently. This is a must-do item for them every day.

For the determination of iodide ions in acetic acid, the standard method of Dionex AN37 and AU140 has been used in the past, using nitric acid as the eluent, AS16 ion exchange column separation and pulse amperometric detection (ordinary silver electrode) to measure the iodide ions in conventional samples. However, at present, ordinary silver electrodes can only quantitatively detect tens of nanograms per milliliter of iodide ions, which is far from meeting actual analysis requirements. Dionex has recently developed a new type of disposable silver electrode, which has higher sensitivity and can replace ordinary silver electrodes to measure trace amounts of iodide ions. However, this new type of disposable silver electrode can only use sodium hydroxide as the eluent. Therefore, the China Applied Research Center of Dionex has established a new method for the determination of iodine ions in acetic acid using disposable silver electrode detection and sodium hydroxide as the eluent based on the actual situation. This method can quantitatively detect the iodide ion content of 1 ppb in acetic acid samples. The method is simple and easy to operate.
