I recently discussed the issue of cryogenic liquid nitrogen with relevant parties. The temperature of liquid nitrogen in storage tanks is minus 196 degrees. Has anyone used it before and knows how to utilize it? What should I be careful about?

It depends on the actual circumstances; our users mainly use nitrogen as a shielding gas, so we store liquid nitrogen as a backup – to be used in cases of shutdowns or failures, where the liquid nitrogen can exchange heat with air through the vaporizer to supply nitrogen to the pipeline system. Liquid nitrogen tanks and pipelines are equipped with a double-layer insulation layer along with a vacuum space; therefore, it is important to ensure that the vacuum within the tank is not disrupted. Liquid nitrogen tanks fall under category III pressure vessels, and they are fitted with several safety valves that require regular inspection. Liquid nitrogen has a temperature of -196 degrees; direct skin contact can cause frostbite. There have been cases among colleagues where it got into their eyes, resulting in severe vision loss. Therefore, when operating, it is necessary to wear protective equipment such as a face mask, insulated gloves, work clothes, and protective shoes, and to carry out the operations slowly in strict accordance with the procedures.
