The waste fluid discharged from a chemical reaction unit in my company contains a large amount of methanol, about 60%. The rest is water along with less than 3% organic impurities. I want to remove the water from it. What is a good way to do this? I would appreciate any advice from experts.
At atmospheric pressure distillation, fractions are taken at different times; the water present at the beginning can be discarded, while the mixture of water and methanol can be included in the liquid used for the next separation process. In the end, what remains is methanol with very low water content along with the residue in the reactor.
