Dear sea friends, our plant’s conversion boiler operates on forced circulation. The pump is also electrically driven; if there is a power outage throughout the plant, the backup generator cannot be started. So how should it be handled?

This is a design flaw; in accordance with emergency handling principles, a generator set should have been installed during the design phase, so that it can start operating automatically in the event of a complete power outage, thereby ensuring the safety of the boiler. However, generator sets need to be regularly inspected and tested, but often the factory ignores them while there is power supply, only becoming concerned when a power outage occurs.
What was said on the second floor is correct; this issue is a defect in both design and management.
It is recommended to add another generator set; for example, our workshop is designed with one generator, and in the event of a power outage, it starts automatically within 15 seconds, so there is no need to worry about motorized equipment not being able to start. However, it is recommended that the generator be placed at a distance away from the workshop, maintaining the safety distance specified by the safety supervision agency.
For the high-risk enterprises here, the Safety Supervision Bureau requires that dual power supply circuits be used, along with backup generator sets.

In the event of the situation you mentioned, as an operator, the only thing you need to do is to initiate an emergency shutdown of the system, quickly cut off all materials flowing into it, and also avoid starting the venting process as much as possible, in order to prevent the heat from the furnace from entering the conversion reactor and causing the boiler water to evaporate
