What size current transformer is needed for 10,000 KW?
How can you calculate current without voltage? Without considering the current, how can one choose the transformation ratio? A motor of this size definitely isn’t 380V :sleepy:
A motor of this size should operate at a supply voltage of 10 KV; for a motor with a power rating of 10,000 KW, a current transformer with a ratio of 1000/5/1 should be used.

Based on the power you provided, the voltage required is estimated to be 10 KV. The power factor for ordinary motors, fans, and air compressors is 0.8; with this value, the current is around 700. Choosing 800 is a bit on the high side. You can use a setting of 100/5/1. As for the CT, whether to use 1000/5 or 1000/1 depends on the application scenario.
The current transformer can be selected as 1200/5
For a 10KV motor, the current is approximately 600A; in this case, a transformer with a rating of 800/5A will suffice, or a 1000/5A transformer can also be used. Such motors require winding differential protection, so it is not recommended to use transformers with a 1:1 ratio. For a 6KV motor, the current is around 1000A, and for this case, transformers with ratings of 1200/5A or 1500/5A can be used.
