When flash evaporation fails, PRO-SET is bypassed. If a flash evaporation error occurs, ASPEN will not calculate PRO-SET; if PRO-SET is calculated in such an error condition, the results obtained from the property set will be unreliable. I would like to ask those who are experts in this area two questions: First, what exactly is PRO-SET? What does it specifically represent? PRO-SET is just a set of material properties, as you yourself said. It represents the nature of logistics, including thermodynamic properties, transport properties, and so on. A flash failure is an error in the vapor-liquid equilibrium; in such cases, calculating property sets becomes unreliable, which may lead to calculation errors or instability in other modules as well. So it needs to be bypassed.
Since this expert has bypassed the set of physical properties, aren’t our subsequent calculations meaningless then? Then why calculate it?
We need to look at it from two perspectives! It generally won’t fail; if it does, it’s because the substance to be entered isn’t one included in the software, or certain properties of that substance are incomplete, such as its molecular polarizability. If a piece of data is missing and it doesn’t affect the overall result, it can be ignored.
