When creating pipe installation drawings and designing supports and hangers, I’m not quite sure whether to use embedded iron pieces or expansion bolts for connecting them to columns; what are the relevant regulations?
Of course, it’s better to provide embedded parts for civil engineering and structural work! Because the load that can be withstood in this way is much better than that of expansion bolts! If some pipelines with small diameters are missing from the pipe rack, expansion bolts can be used to secure them! It is recommended that the support plates for the pipe rack in front of the pump be embedded in advance. Vibration is inevitable when the pump is in operation, so using expansion bolts is not a good option!

In general design, the anchoring of main pipeline supports and hangers requires the use of civil engineering embedded plates. For small pipes for which layout drawings are not yet available, some are also embedded in advance to serve as a foundation for supports and hangers. Sometimes, embedded steel plates are not considered for small pipes, and expansion bolts can be used to secure them in place on site. If the pipeline vibrates significantly, try not to use expansion bolts for fixation.
Pre-embedded iron (embedments) are generally used. When it is found on site that some pipe racks with light loads do not have embedments, expansion bolts can be used for fixation.
Generally, embedded parts are used; it seems that expansion bolts are used for the supports of horizontal pipes!
