Section 2.12 of “Gu Rong” stipulates that \"the mechanical properties of the weld metal shall be higher than or equal to the limits specified for the base material.\" For the same type of material, there’s no issue, but for different types of materials, should it be the lower value or the higher one? Additionally: nowadays it is generally to choose the lower option rather than the higher one, whereas before it was the other way around. Everyone is welcome to share their understanding. Did the experts mention it during the training sessions held by those who have been there? Please advise!
Isn’t that also the requirement specified in the JB/T4709 welding procedure? Just handle it as required.
It should be the same as the low value, or higher than that value.
For dissimilar materials, the welding material selected should be no lower than the lower strength limit of the steel with the lower strength grade, and no higher than the upper limit of the steel with the higher strength grade; reliable process control is sufficient.
