Dear experts, I have been researching the utilization of natural gas resources in the western region recently, and I have encountered some difficulties. Indeed, there is an abundance of natural gas in the west of China, but the West-East Gas Pipeline has been used to transport natural gas from abroad, including regions such as Xinjiang, Sichuan, and even Inner Mongolia, to the eastern part of the country. During transportation, about one-third of this gas is used for domestic purposes along the way, and another one-third is used for domestic use once it arrives in the eastern regions. I would like to ask you: what are some good approaches and products for developing natural gas-based chemical industries in the western region?
As far as I know and what has been put into industrial use, it can be used to produce synthetic ammonia and urea, as well as for power generation and cold energy utilization (for use in cold storage)
Natural gas is an important raw material for the modern chemical industry, and natural gas chemistry, which uses methane as its main ingredient, has become a vital part of the chemical industry. It mainly includes more than 20 products such as synthetic ammonia, XOX series products, methanol, acetylene, nitromethane, and hydrogen; in addition, there are another fifty to sixty products after further processing. These products find use in various fields of the national economy. At present, the development of natural gas chemical processing technologies has given rise to two major categories of products: those derived from methanol and those derived from acetylene.
It seems that the utilization rate of natural gas isn’t very high. Deep processing still has great potential.
