I encountered a similar problem a few days ago as well. It is a temporary filter for the compressor inlet. We need to design our own version of this temporary filter, based on the reference drawings provided by the compressor manufacturer, COOPER. The parameters for the mesh in those reference drawings are: 10X10 MESH, .032 WIRE, FOR THE OUTER SCREEN; 8X8 MESH, .062 WIRE, FOR THE INNER SCREEN. The term “mesh” refers to the number of openings per inch in length (rather than per square inch). So, your screen has a mesh size of 100 mesh; such screens are available in China. Mesh sizes ranging from 100 to 350 mesh are considered commonly used.
There are 100X100=10,000 pores per square inch, which is equivalent to a 100-mesh sieve; however, the pore size of 0.173 is slightly larger than the standard value. The pore size for standard sieves is 0.154 mm. It’s not clear why 0.173 is considered the standard value.
