A rapid solvent is a substance that accelerates the dissolution of solids, liquids, or colloids in solutions (including water), functioning similarly to enzymes by presumably reducing the activation energy required for the reaction. The substance (enzyme) does not participate in the reaction, but it can greatly enhance the efficiency of the reaction. The same is probably true for rapid solvents. However, adding an excessive amount of a rapid solvent can be harmful to the human body, as it is after all a chemical substance. A rapid solvent for sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, made from raw materials in the following weight ratio: 10–40% glyoxal and 60–90% water. By using the rapid dissolving agent of this invention, it is possible to **increase the rate at which sodium carboxymethyl cellulose dissolves, without altering its original appearance or properties; it is easy to use and inexpensive.
